Turbo conversion advice

  2004 Clio 182 cup
Currently getting some money together for an engine dynamics low boost turbo converstion 230 bhp just wanting to know any problems anyone's had with this kit. I know engine dynamics do a weeks turn around and clio turbo has the better parts but takes longer. Just wanting to hear about people's experiences with both company's before I hand my money over. Thanks in advance

Sm inlet, cams, obviously new belts and then mapping wouldnt be far behind tho mate.
The reason i say that is i dont really see the point in boost at 230 when the sm and what not will see 200

High boost is class 300hp in a clio is fun as dont get me wrong but you need your head seeing to if you dump 5k into a clio lol its just dead money

I would always buy one pre done like yours save a fortune that way

Bu a 1k clio, low boost for 2.5k, sell
For 4.5k, one of these per month would bump your monthly income up a bit

The car I brought in the summer was done by clioturbo and has similar issues as shown in knuckles post.. The cars been completely thrown together and there were just so many bodges on it that you wouldn't believe.. Low boost you don't have to worry about having a garret turbo and that's the only 'better component' you'll get from that kit. Imo spend a little extra and go engine dynamics, Baffles me how someone that has messed so many people around and done some truly shocking conversions is still in business.

I too obviously wouldnt recommend anyone use Clioturbo - its worth what ever it costs to have the peace of mind that the work has been done correctly at Engine Dynamic. I have spent a fortune correcting the shocking workmanship that CT did on my car. In my review linked above the problems I found were only the tip of the iceberg. I had a specialist examine the car and the list of faults and problems were 10 pages long of bullet points.

Was just about to ask how that conversion ended as the thread got locked.
Hope your all sorted now buddy.
Its been ages but the car was only finished mechanically two months ago. I am now working on the body and upgrading a few things. I am going to do a thread soon though - I did say at the time the car wouldnt be sold or broken and have stayed true to that. I have spent a bloody fortune on it but it has been worth it.

Thanks mate after reading that it's 100% engine dynamics

Before you write off CT, perhaps you should speak to some of his recent customers?

There has been a change of staff, the conversions which were taking months are now being turned around in 2 weeks and Andy is taking on less work.

He's no longer a trader on here, but if you find CT on Facebook, I'm sure you'd find many recent customers.

He was turning out good work before and during mine and opticals were being done.. This is two cars he still messed up and there have been more. End of the day it shows he cuts corners and isn't too fussed if a car goes out unfinished or to a poor standard ... I wouldn't want to risk 2.5k on a car that might or might not be done right

My car was a complete death trap when I first got it.. My own fault for not viewing it properly, but I was expecting a car done by a professional company to be done well..one example is the heat shield fitted didn't even cover the master cylinder.. I didn't notice this to start with but after quite a long pull on boost I had literally no brakes as it had completely cooked the fluid. It's not just that the work carried out is poor, the cars are dangerous which I find unacceptable.

  dan's cast offs.
I wont lie i love my boosted clio sooo much but would i spend the money starting from 3k to boost one.......

No no i wouldnt i would sm inlet and cams job done

mine's the only one i know of with sm to break 200bhp, with cams closer to 210bhp BUT it's miles behind a boosted one on torque, might only be 10-20bhp behind but a good 50-60lb/ft torque.

still fun though when you kick it's head in:smile::smile::smile:

As someone who isn't one sided (got my belts done at CT) and has taken a step back from it all - the amount of posts on the Facebook page wondering why CT is just blanking their calls yet speaking to other people at the same time is astonishing. One guy who had his car in for a conversion was being blanked so got his mate to pretend to book his car in for some work, CT was happily talking to him whilst blanking the other guy. Food for thought.

I'd rather have 210bhp N/A with the throttle response.

regarding the throttle response argument, i have driven an engine dynamics low boost car an can honestly say the lag was VERY minimal. To the extent that it was almost non existent.

If i was looking for more power it would 100% be the low boost route i would take (providing i had to stay with the F4R, my preference would to stick a 225 engine an box in). The problems arise when people expect a 85k+ mile engine not designed for boost to not have issues, a general engine refresh would be first on my list before considering boost.

I wouldn't even say low boost really affects the reliability engine much tbh.. Doesn't put the rods or pistons under any strain they can't handle..engine dynamics have done a car that was on 140k and its still going strong after 15k of hard use. With low boost you can just chuck another engine when it goes anyway

Are CT ok with cambelt changes and the general maintenance side?

Yes mate, as much I'm pissed off about my car, he is a really nice guy and you shouldn't have any issues with stuff like that.

If they continue to treat customers like that, and turn out work like Optical's and Robmums car then it's not going to be long before someone drags them through court and ruins the company.
You don't want your car sat there when the bailiffs come round and remove all the tools and equipment shutting the place down.
