Turbo-charged, Or supercharged

  Black Gold with cup packs
I'm not going to sell up anymore. Going to use the cash I have for a new car To get a turbo conversion or a supercharger fitted to the 172!
Anyone got any experience with this?
Point me in the right direction? would be great.
Modifications required to take to this modification?
Do these Turbo packages Include all the work required for the car to run properly post converssion? ect ect.
Any help is much appreciated!

From what I've heard no1 has produced a supercharger for a 172. Theres naf all space left under the bonnet to fit one lol.

Personally I would go for throttle bodies and a few other mods.

i am supercharging my 172 at the mo!

its expensive and complecated. expect to pay 6k -10k includng internal modifications and Ecu etc

No supercharger kits are available. So unless you can wait and see what ben_p comes up with you dont have any choice.

6k, 2 weeks Ktech conversion sounds tasty, And the time span that the car is in for sounds superb. Are there any better deals about?
Or is this my best bet?
I already have an uprated brake package
So I will be uprating my suspension at the same time, Some Leda coilover probably or H&Rs

Marky Do Angelworks offer a Turbo conversion? if so could you supply me with a link for the reliavnt infomation!

no it is, but Ben being a perfectionist would use different components as would i

i'm not a fan of their manifold, there's better available

TB's are the more realistic choice.

For pure madness a 20v turbo Vag engine conversion would be the way to go.

If I had 8k and was starting from a base car ie. unmodified. I would fit

coilovers
ITBs
cams
exhaust
move battery to boot
buckets
Lightweight 15" wheels
maybe 4pots if you still have spare.

Get it all setup properly and you will have a car that will waste a standard 172ff without the worry of the strain a turbo conversion will put your car under.

Give the companies a call and speak to them. Decide who you think knows there stuff and is not bullshitting you.

I would persoanlly recommend Angelworks and BenR having experienced others in the past.

surely thier kit is built to a price?

if you wanted an equal length tubular manifold you could have one made, but expect to pay an extra ££££££ for it.

it does look shocking though, LOL like you said its cheap and does an alteet job,

they have to cater for there market, most clio owners are tight as a crabs arse, so for them to biuld a top notch job and charge a fortune would get them nowhere!

I'd go for ITB's, cams etc, and go as far as you can with that set-up to be honest, sounds nicer and looks more impressive when you pop the bonnet!

fair enough its not a turbo, but as said there will be less strain on the engine, plus it must surely be cheaper.

As for the work, having never had anything done from any of the specialist so completely impartial I would get the work done at somehwere like GDI or Angelworks, simply because it seems thewy know what they are on about, they seem like proper enthusiasts whereas ktec just seems like a 'shop'

will they make a one-off ?

Without a doubt i would have thought, they'd probably get you to fit a 182 manifold if you haven't already and then i'd imagine a one-off would cost you £1-1.2K. Drop them an email, i'm sure they'll happily give you a quote.

I'd rather sell the car and put 8K with the sale and buy somert quicker tbh. Possibly a tidy r32?

An R32 quicker then a turbo charged 182? Youd be spanking some serious cars with 260bhp and 260lb/ft in a clio. An R32 wouldnt be worth the effort. In fact a lightly tuned 182 would be quicker to 100 and much more fun to drive.

props for trying this conversion... sounds very interesting...
anyone can go down the buy a fast car route thats easy(with cash which you have)
but changing something and making it quicker thats a whole lot more fun...
that power in a clio would be amazing....
what power does yozzasports run? that thing was quick at fcs...
good luck if you do this and make sure you post about it!
