A little pic....dropped of for mapping.

20170415_072729_zpslpnqirra.jpg

Feeling a bit annoyed\frustrated right now;

Just had to write a "I'm sorry" email to Andy at Engine Dynamics as he has had a look at the map on #17 and as I read his email to me could imagine the "like what the actual xxx" when he was looking at the map put on by the original engine builder #1.

He is fitting me in as I said it needs re mapping after an re build, turns out the map is so bad it needs re doing from scratch. Not Ideal for a busy business.

Wasn't until I wrote my reply that I noticed that the only part re used in this recent refresh is the head, just lol'ing all over now.
Even the pistons, which engine builder #2 said were fine and for which I sourced £280 new rings for, engine builder #3(Beaniesport) said that the pistons where complete garbage.

I think i'll go electric from now.

Still undecided whether to post Andy's and my emails or not. I'll post the map pic for now see who can see what's 1 of the issues with it.

If it's what I'm thinking it is, then f**king lol!! That's not even a bad map, that's a f**king disgrace.

@NorthloopCup something along the lines of;
"appears the static timing has not been set correctly as looking at the Ignition table the advance is extremely low (see pic), actually less than you would see in a turbo setup! We should be seeing numbers in the early to late twenty’s as rough indication at 100% throttle. Simply this means we are not getting the numbers input into the table as TDC is actually x amount of degrees out. This also affects the injection timing."

Will have to see where this goes as i'm tempted to just strip and just sell off the parts to get rid of this whole can of worms.

What a mess!

Yeah it is what I thought I was looking at then unfortunately Pete.

Give ED a chance to map the engine and see what it makes mate I say. Ultimately, a mapped f4r making good power is worth more like that, than one in kit form. Just thinking that at least you can still break it if you get it back and have no love for it.

It almost looks as though someone's just installed a map to get the engine running.

So it's purely map related?
No, Found out from engine builder #1 that he put on 3-4 degrees advance timing on the inlet cam - which explains the poor running to a certain extent as now the timing has been set to std.

ED are going to check the compression, timing and go from there - glad I really didn't just book a mapping session now.
Oh and the alternator has failed - I did think it was mighty hot before..lol.

From my accident back in Nov 16, the driver who knocked me off my bike, now has to present himself to Peterborough Magistrates Court on 6th June to answer to the police prosecution case against him. Hopefully he'll come to his senses and plead guilty otherwise a lengthy court battle will ensue.
I also have to return to hospital for surgery on my collar bone - has to be pined, plated and a bone graft completed too. So, not too happy about this, think I'll be getting an op date for May June time.

Doubt I'll even get a drive out in #17 this year after all!

Hi Pete,

Just finished reading your thread from start to finish over the last 2 weeks! You've had nothing but bad luck from start to finish - I'm gutted for you.

I wish you all the best for the future with the car and your recovery and hope to see the car out on track running right soon.

Shaun

Thanks for taking the time out to read - it's been an emotional 5 years for sure!

Who are engine builder #1 and #2?
I'm guessing one of them is from the Dorset area.

All details are in this project thread - not wanting to go over \ drag it up again, all's been said and done now.

Here we go......

again.......not a chance!!!

Might have some news next week...............

  A terrible one
Fingers crossed for number 17. Can't believe you've got to go to court. Sounds VERY familiar to what I had to go through. Good luck.

No, 6 June is when he either pleads guilty or not guilty. If he pleads not guilty then we all go to court to fight it out. He pleads guilty then it's all done bar adding points to his licence plus fine and of course my damages etc.

An update - on more than one subject;

6th June; court hearing has happened - and for some unbelievable reason I won't know the out come for up to two weeks!! Called the police collisions unit who said I must wait for up to 2 weeks for a letter from them and the court doesn't issue court results over the phone. Great system we have here, should've gone to court myself even though I wasn't summoned.

7th June saw me attend hospital for my collar bone surgery - for it's non union to be plated, screwed along with a bone graft from hip. 4-6 weeks recovery as back in November and unable to drive for the same period. All sorted now but would've preferred it if this op was completed back in November, when the accident happened.

#17; Never easy is it.....Andy, from Engine Dynamics had, had enough, problem after problem so picked up on the 5th June and took back to Beaniesports (230 mile ferry trip for me) for final resolution. I had another hefty bill from ED (which was expected after the emails received for work being completed fixing etc) and #17 got no where near to be mapped, things just didn't go right from the off. Fair play to Andy as I think the bill could've been a lot more had he put all the time spent on it. Chris from Beaniesport has said the next call I'll receive #17 will be mapped and ready for the track - all bar a spanner check etc.

Some good news.....finally, but not concerning #17;
FO UPD - Fine
Fined £316.00.
FVS UPD - Victim Surcharge
To pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £31.00.
FCOST UPD - Costs
To pay costs of £85.00.
COLLO UPD - Collection order made
Collection order made.
LEP Driving record endorsed with penalty points
Driving record endorsed with 5 points.
GPTAC Guilty Plea taken into account
Defendant's guilty plea taken into account when imposing sentence.

I'll be putting up a for sale thread for #17 in a couple days, would rather sell whole - car + all spares (spare engine -8 wheels tyres ect) I have. I'll also include the trailer too - for the right price.
But will break if no takers.

There, done it now.

The End.

Another long road of misery.
Is it cars I'm general, or just some Clio specialists!!

Unfortunately 3 specialists failed to deliver whilst I did everything a customer could, paid on time and didn't change spec\anything mid build etc.

Any way I'm working at the moment - someone has deleted a load more files than they should've (GDPR) so I'm restoring them, 12 hrs later and still restoring lol.

I didn't sell ~17 in the end said to @Tony Hunter that I would kick myself if I didn't put a STD engine back in at least before selling - this is where it's at. Waiting for time to get the current engine out and a std back in.

Time - or lack off is holding me up, just started to rebuild the Riding manege here which is taking up weekends. 43m x 23m - removed all the fencing, surface and replacing fence, base and surface - but I do want to get a std engine back in the Clio. I was a sad when I pulled it out of the barn last weekend - covered in dust, dried green algae just like your typical barn find! I Only pulled it out as I wanted to use the trailer to pick up 45 x 3m fence posts.

If any one's local and wants to help on a day and knows reasonably well their way around a Clio engine bay - PM me. Could ideally get it out and in in a day - got a std engine here already.

Also had my cycle collision case resolved recently got a hefty pay out, total was below 30k and above 20k - not seen any of it : ( as it went straight to pay of the mortgage - only 3k left now on that!! I can recommend a really good Solicitor in Peterborough if you ever need one for a personal injury.

Now off to check on my restores.....

I'm taking the picture and it say's it all, literally deflated by the whole situation brought on by false hope and promises that lead to one disappointment after another. A can do attitude just doesn't cut it - it you can't deliver whether that be on a time scale or ability then say no, don't take the job on.

Andy from Engine Dynamics was and has been the only engine builder\specialist to ever set realistic times scales and was totally honest if he could do the work or not or if in fact he even wanted to take any part in the work. I wish I went to him 4 years ago when we decided to start chasing power.

Decided to call a halt to and put my efforts into a different car - looking at a Megane (seen a r26 on here) or S2000 and just track for fun.

Sold all as a job lot car, trailer, wheels, spare engine, all of it, gone.

Sad that it all ended up this way.

Sorry to read this mate. I know EXACTLY how you feel. I've just done similar with the pain that has been my Trophy. Time wasted, money wasted, faith in 'Renault Specialists' completely lost (albeit for a couple of notable exceptions). I think you've done the right thing. Good luck with the new car and next adventure.

This is a massive shame. Looks like you have had a real tough ride (no pun intended). Seems like you have really been messed around.

Sounds like Andy is straight up... I chose Northampton Motorsport and after 7-8 years of mine being in pieces I needed somewhere I could take it leave it and get sorted should the mapping not go right, that is exactly what happened.

Hopefully that is who I think it is taking it away to look after?

I'm not up to date on the goings on on your Trophy project - I'll have a quick k read now.

Too many people seem to be let down by specialists. It's sad.

Endemic in the motor sport word it seems!

Yes, it's been a long last few years to say the least. All behind me now.

I have already bought a 6mth old trailer, happened to look on ebay and one was for sale 17 miles away. Couldn't say no really. So now searching for a car....... dare I say Mini or R26.

Sold #17 privately to someone who is well known in the cliosport.net world. You all may see it out in a few months in some form or another!

Sounds like you have made the right choice.
Fast moving on the trailer, that worked out well. What you thinking car wise? Race car or something you can use and trackday? (Friend is currently selling a Mini race car).

Considering anything really, as long as it doesn't break the bank and Sam is able to drive it..lol

Mainly looking at FWD , have Mini r53 GP( gp a possibility), meg r26, S2000, there was a Mk7 fiesta on ebay recently which got my interest up, these sort of thangs really. Race or just Track day.

Trailer is this one
1425154
came with an electric winch, which I have sold for £110 so lowered the price of the trailer too - it's not a low profile one like my old Benderup or a Brian James one - but I'm never going to pick up a 6mth old trailer for this money any where,. I sold the winch as the trailer came with the original one and I would'v had to keep a 120amp hr battery in the boot to use for the odd occasion that I need to use a winch. Will have to watch the weights though as it a bit heavier than my last so a 1400kg car will put me over my car's braked towing weight.
