Titanium 182 - more restoration than modification!

  182 Cup & DCi 172
Some how I seem to have acquired another 182 - it is a 2005 (55 plate) 182 FF in Titanium. It was missing the splitter and lower grill due to a pheasant incident with the last owner - that was sorted in my first 5 minutes of ownership haha.

It needs work but couldn't turn it down - been using it today and drives fairly well. Few mechanical bits to sort - track rod ends, passenger driveshaft, exhaust hangers.

Body wise - it needs a thorough clean, there is a dent on the drivers door and the front and rear bumpers have some scratches down to the black.

Little bits already done are:

- Scorpion catback exhaust
- Front drilled and grooved discs
- Rear drilled and grooved discs

Anyway after sorting out the front here are some snaps:

As I picked it up:

Nice brakes on already:

Rebuilt with skoda splitter & lower grill back in place:

Well lots done today!

Started by polishing the headlights as they were horrendous, for this I used the Meguires kit but I bought a load of 1500 and 2500 grit wet and dry to make sure it was done properly.

Before:

After:

I then got the numberplates off ready for a full cleaning session, unfortunately someone has drilled new holes instead of using the standard ones which is a pet hate of mine.

Before shots:

Rear plate needed the bolts drilling off:

And the worst bits:

Let the snow fall, I started with some Autoglym snowfoam with some basics of bling in as well:

Tar present all over lower section of car:

SAM_0647_zps3a6fa4ee.jpg

Had to use a detailing brush and some quite harsh cleaner to get the worst bits sorted:

SAM_0615_zpsa522dae4.jpg

Then went over and found some bad scratches on the drivers rear quarter panel where the previous owners dog had been up at the car:

These were machine polished off:

Next up was going over all the other marks & tar spots, both mirror caps, the front bumper & the rear bumper had marks which I was told by the previous owner were deep in the paint, attacked with some machine cleaner mixed with shampoo and born slippy lube - used with bilt hamber clay bar:

Once the car was dried off I got the exhaust sitting better thanks to the sockets in the hanger mod:

Car now sits like this:

Next was the engine bay:

Panel filter I had sitting in the garage was fitted along with the nicer finished airbox lid, hose and stainless bolts I had previously on the inferno:

Good job mate. I take it you got it at a good price? Has a fair few parking scuffs! What's the mileage?

Its on 84k and came with T&T and cost only 3 figures after finding a load of change under the seat haha

It has had a few marks over time - mate of mine had it for 3 years and has never really cleaned it - just drove it then jet washed it at the local garage

Needs the interior doing next as got a load of dog hair to remove haha

Might be a keeper - not sure yet - made a deal with my girlfriend: If she passes her theory test by end of January its hers - if not will be for sale.

It has a lot of potential - hardest bit is still to come though - the interior. Never seen as many dog hairs in my life haha

The car has the following lights on altogether:

ESP, ABS & Service

They are on 50:50 - were on when I drove the car home but not when I moved it on the night. Used it all day yesterday and were again on 50:50

I tried adjusting the brake light switch and the lights still came back on.

I quickly wanted to check the brake fluid level - however this was easier said than done: the cap was stuck down fast due to the neck being miss shapen and thus the cap wedged on tight. I ended up cutting off the old cap and replacing it with a replacement one. The fluid level was low so has been topped up.

Tried the ignition and fault still present - dropped power off the battery on the car then repowered - still fault present.

I then readjusted the brake light switch and tried - on and off with the ignition: around 20 times with no fault, tried with engine running - ok. Did another 10-20 ignition on/off and engine on/off - fault still not on.

I am curious as the fault comes on before the car is even moved and comes on with the ignition as well so engine isn't running. If it returns it is going to AndyRG to try and diagnose.

The old cap:

Also picked up 2 pairs of track rod ends for both the Inferno and the Titanium

Does the ABS work? Could be a cracked reluctor ring?

When mine had the wrong reluctor rings on the rear (long story) the dash lights were intermittent.

  182 Cup & DCi 172
ABS works when the lights are off but not when on.

Reluctor rings - the discs and pads were replaced last December and faults have only started appearing in the last 2 weeks.

I only got the car Saturday but have known it for 3 years when my mate had it

Car is getting the passenger driveshaft fitted on Tuesday once again at MB Motorsport. Need an exhaust leak sorting and the new track rod ends and it should be spot on.
