Timing locking tool

Hi Guys. Anyone local to London,Wembley has a locking tool to change cam belt and Dephaser puley I can rent out? Really don't feel like I can stretch my budget to buy one :(

Buy the set from Renault then sell it on again. You'll make most of the money back (it's what I did)

All the Renault Sport models have VVT.

The F4R engine is used in various cars without the VVT, but none of the Clio's.
Alright that makes sense :) that's why it was confusing. I was under impression clios all have VVT. And you confirmed that.

Have you ever changed a floating pulley setup before? If not, then I wouldn't attempt it to be honest. For the sake of an extra couple of hundred quid you get the peace of mind that it's done right.

If you get it wrong then you'll either a) be down on power or b) you've ruin the engine.

You need all the right tools, including torque wrenches for each of the bolts. Due to the range of torque settings you'll likely need 2 of them.

I did my own on my 197, but I have all the tools and have done plenty of belts before. When it went on the rollers afterwards it made 185bhp which is pretty much bang on what they make or realistic rollers. Most of the 1*2's made in the 160-170 range on the same day.

Yeah I am aware of that. I have seen a few guides online. Hopefully it won't be too confusing. Any pointers?
The main reason why I am doing it myself, is because as soon as I get car back from Caging, engine is coming out with gearbox. To fit lightened flywheel, clutch, lighter pullies, ac delete kit, new exhaust manifold, water pump, and the dephaser pulley with the belts. If the car was running o would have considered a local specialist but why pay a monkey with a wrench when you can do it yourself?

If the lump is going to be out of the car then it will be much easier as its the access that makes it a difficult job tbh.

My only advice mate is get someone who has done one 'well' before.

You could and looks like you are spending a pretty penny on this, timing is the key to a good engine, trust me.

Lol. Wife set a "strict" budget for the clio. Little does she know i am already 3k over ha ha.. even tho original budget was set rather high, just though why spend £160 on a tool to use once if I could borrow or rent for some beer tokens ;)

Fair enough, I always had to be the same with my ex!

Like I say, with the engine out and on a stand it should be simple enough. There is a guide on here somewhere that gives the procedure and torque settings. I'm sure someone will come along and link it.

Hmm that I am not sure yet.
There are few options:
1) AMD tuning in Essex as they done my other cars.
2) k-tek cable with remote map loading
3) actually take it to k-tek.
4) open for suggestions...
Don't go to AMD, there rollers read high.

You should take it to Engine dynamics in Essex, they get good reviews on here mate and are a Renault Sport specialist.

With the engine out it will be a piece of piss compared to working on it in the car.

If you can follow instructions it's a simple process in essence, if everything is done in order and as it should be. You'll be ok.

Any idea where the instructions are? I have seen them before but now can't find the bloody thing...

There is a guide one here. Watch out though, if you look at autodata their guide is wrong.
