Thinking of swapping the cup for a EK9 Honda civic Facelift model

  Black Gold with cup packs
What you think guys, here is the link for the add.
This guy approached me, and after a bit of discussion he is illing to straight swap.
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/628421.htm

My main problem, is that he hasn't got the full log book. This is a Fresh import, been in the country for 3 months, and I know that these log books can take a while to come back, He has the new registered keepers section.
I have spoken to the people who imported the car,
http://www.k-t-c.co.uk/12545/index.htm
And have confirmed with me that the log book may take a few months to come back.
The cambelt has just been changed ect.

What you think

£7k?!

You must be on drugs. No chance.

Just go to southampton Docks and buy yourself one there for £2500 and register it yourself.

I think if you google A1 Car auctions you'll find it.

The fact hes willing to do a straight swap would worry me.

Hes got that up for £7k and your Cup is probably worth £5k max!

if you look on google do a search for kieghley trade centre there are hundreds of bad reviews about this garage!

It's HPI clear since it has been here, but as you sy it could have been repaired over here prior to first UK registration.

Thank you guys, Just read literally hundereds of different complaints about the company. As you say, all the big Jap car clubs have nothing but s**t to say about the companies reputation. I will not be looking into this car!
Thank you again guys, the accident repair stories seem a regular thing with them as well. Usually on imported cars, repaired prior to first UK registration, and then noone is any wiser

I nearly bought a 9 before i got the Ph1 and i very much wish i did, you will get alot of mixed reviews on here positive and mostly negative for obvious reasons (its not cheap french shite).

That said if thecars in good nick id bite the hand off the guy for it, there amazing cars and boast one of the highest power per litres of that of any normally asspirated cars of all times, 185bhp from a 1600c is definatley somthing not to be sniffed at.

Plus itll last alot longer than the cup and be cheaper to run when things start to break as per the bomb proof relaibility of the B16BR unit that it posseses.

www.ek9.org < good site for info

www.vtec-direct.com/.co.uk < (not sure)

Example a 2001 DC5 sold buy a dealer for £9995 with low mileage ect, that does not sound straight up to me!

You certainly dont hold onto cars long... itchy feet?

I just like to try everything that is good!
It is only a thought at the moment, I love this cup it is tremendous, it would take a special sort of car

I have just been on the EK9 club site. 7k is the going rate for the good facelift models. The cliosport tightness is sneeking in again!
But forget about that my cup is worth more than 5k, to the right person I am confident I could sell it for 6k minimum.

An absolute rarity on the roads aswell, I wouldnt be tempted to get anything less than a 2000 RX Auction grade 3.5 tho!

this guys on my old Saxo club.
He swapped that for a 340bhp Scoob on an 03 plate.
Always swapping his cars, lol.

They do seem to hold their money well the 9s...

7k for a 1999 civic FPML

Their iconic cars. 200BHP just imported one, i think its already sold, it was up for 11,500 pounds.

The EK9 and 1998 JDM DC2 wil hold there value extremely well as there is such demand, especially well cared for examples.

The DC5 however isnt quite so iconic, theres quite a few around and in the last few months prices have plummeted. I saw a 2002 blue DC5 on approx 50K miles for 7,500 and its not in bad nick.

Not sure if its circumstance and people are selling cheap as they want rid, for whatever reason, or the higher performance car (in the loosest possible way) market has taken a real down turn with the proposed tax hikes and petrol prices etc.

Kind of wish id held out and bought my 5 now as opposed to 7 month ago :(

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
dc5's have dropped in appeal for me, i actually see a fair few about and they dont grab me like they used to now, shame really.
