This has only been reported in the country three times this year so i was pleased to be one of the few to get a photo of it.

Some great shots.

Do you need SLR for shots like this or is it possible with a decent brdge camera with suitable optical zoom?

Not really, no. Some bridge cameras will produce brilliant results I have a friend who uses a fujifilm with 12x optical zoom and he can get some very detailed photos although I Can still see an edge of the DSLR + lenses vs bridge camera with one lens.

Also prime lenses help towards the quality of the image alot something which you dont get on a bridge camera.

Thanks mate. I have a canon powershot sx200 with 12 x optical zoom but was struggling with aperture and depth of field. I've now discovered that aperture priority only really works when I use manual focus so will see how that goes for me.

in a cathedral in Malta (forget which one now lol!)

I shoot In av mode all the time for birds! Keep it at f4 an alter my iso to keep the shutter speeds I need.

Cheers, my aunt lived there so I was over a couple of times. Really nice country, Portoroz on the coast is a cracking wee town too.

I certainly took the first image of that mini, the very one that ended up in Mini Magazine, yes.

I had about 3 main trips to Longbridge, each was about 7-10 hours long so I got a fair amount of pictures. About 10 other explorers also went into Longbridge at that time so not all the pics out there are mine, unless they are tagged with either Derelict-UK or Photoaddiction.co.uk.

But many of them are mine;)

  RIP Dan
Went kayaking on Valentines day off the East coast, this was looking towards the French coast, it was a bit bit misty over there as you can usually see it pretty well. I like the endless look about the shot...sorry about quality was with my phone...
