thank you both....

...well some more has been done, my mate (painter/sprayer) rang me giving me a nudge, he wants to get it going and a good pace now so we are going to meet up, write a good list and work through it,
very happy to hear though that they have removed that pain in the ass floor panel, happy days, also some of the rear has had some filler work...

...must get on and order that 182 boot floor now then i spose

So what's your next step, more shell prepping and cutting the floor out for a 182 floor.
Hawsome Internet providings. When you next getting down with the wagon?
I reckon around 03:00 Sunday the 30th of October we all go down and get it finished Halloween / A-team stylie

I need to sit down with my mate and go through the car on what needs what,
but initially it is body prep and welding yes, putting some blanking plates in, possibly a 182 boot floor etc etc also need to find someway of mounting my front false floors

unsure when i am going to see it... would be awesome if we nailed it that weekend...lol

had a good catch up with my mate (painter/sprayer) last night and he is real keen to get the clio sorted, we have a fair few ideas and some interesting concepts on colour....
i would be lying if i said this didn't take my fancy...

AY0F7921.jpg

other colours we talked about were a new VW colour in a satin colour (Russ may be able to confirm the paint code) and even the new matt grey from the Peugeot RCZ.... we shalt see.

i have also got to decide what to do about the rear wheel well, my friend said it could be a major hassle and lots of ££££ if i go down the route of buying a 182 boot floor and then welding it in, it may be easier to get an ally sheet cut and put that in... would be lighter too....

that porsche - WOW!! the colour is amazing too, subtle but mint!

glad this is coming along, its the only one to survive now, it must live on. i miss mine today :(

just today yep, hadnt really done so since stripping it. but today ive felt the need to take it for a drive

I saw a Porsche exactly like that one at the pistonheads meet that was at Silverstone on Brit car 24 weekend, EPIC looking car. There's some pics on my Facebook :)

Can you not just go and cut a 182 boot floor out of a scrap 182? I think the floor is moulded to add strength so just adding a sheet of alloy might not be strong enough.

Daz172cup has chopped his wheel well out and welded in something, he's modified his exhaust so it sits along the rear beam and then he has cut away pretty much all of the rear bumper!

This winter I think I'm changing my exhaust and getting a diffuser made. So I may beat you too it ;)

Porsche black grey!
I ask because I'm there this weekend

so i am guessing you'd be coming down the A303? i live about 5 mins from the 303 so would welcome you to stop in.... its just i actually may be doing something on the car (over in Wells)....ffs

that would be the first UK built Rauh-Welt car made in collaboration with VAD.
i was looking at ordering a floor straight from renault, but it could be alot of work, cutting the other out, getting it to fit nice when it goes back in + the rear panel could be different on the 2, if you think the spare wheel well isn't just a circle, it goes into the rear panel, so at the deepest point its going into the wheel well too, so does the 182 floor have that extra bit (ie below the flat floor to the depth of the spare wheel well).... because that doesn't need to be there either.

as mentioned me and my mate talked about replacing it with an ally section, he re-assures me ally would be fine, he said you'd be surprised how strong it is.... what are elise floorpans made from?

Alot of chat going on in this thread... not enough build action :coffee:

you farking knowsit...lol
need to rectify that

so i got to visit the clio over the weekend and go over the first few things with the bodyshop (my mate). It dawned on me that it has been at least 2 months since i even saw the car last, let alone worked on it, however a few bits and bobs have been done in the mean time.. not that my friends not busy enough as the clio is currently in the company of a rally mark1 escort for a repaint and a super-rare Jaguar convertible in for a total resto...

anyways back to the clio...
so this is how it currently sits,

a few more bits have been removed now, all locks, mechanisms, bumpers and sideskirts,
on the inside it has also seen some work, remember my problem panel.... well one of the guys got it out.... and turned my clio into a sieve...lol

not a problem though, will be welded and then have a carbon false floor anyways,
also tidying up the rear has begun...

we also spoke about the rear floorpan and i think we both agreed that an ally floorpan may be best so we are looking into that now... it seems to be gathering steam again...

I almost forgot what this car looks like! ;)

Just a thought.... I see you have some excess metal on the inner boot skin that could be removed? :

Oh so it's still here, I thought your mate might have broken the Clio for parts!

Still loads to cut out of the boot, you should use my boot as an example ;)

have you thought about a fiberglass bootlid? looks like you have done a good job with the interior so far though...

i did initially, but most of the weight is in the glass... which i am replacing with polycarb, its so surprising how light it is currently, you pop the lock and the thing bloody pops up almost catching you un-aware

something like that, but oh well... its out.

on the subject of breaking it, and getting more stuff out, more stuff is coming off....
...for the eagle eyed amongst you on here you will see in someone else's project thread that they will be having my engine loom, i have a pretty trick engine loom that matt at TDF come up with that looks totally stock but has been redone for the ITB's, another member is in desperate need and i was thinking about getting a custom loom (with only the NEEDED wires) in it, so hopefully it should suit all...

i may regret it... but oh well

Nah you won't
;)
Hey <3

My car isn't ever going to be as hardcore as yours so it does make sense! It just doesn't seem like it right now;). Like you said to me dude, this stuff always takes time if you want to do it right
