tapping 172 cup

as the title suggests, the engine has started tapping slightly, but nothing major.

im going to service it tomorrow to see if i can solve it, but was just wondering if the f4r suffers from any known faults ie lifters and suchlike. dont know much about this french stuff :S

Have a search for Dephaser pulley threads on here because that's a common issue that causes tapping noises.

As above, dephaser sounds like a diesel/tractor. Best thing to do is an engine flush first before you change the pully

thanks for your quick replys, ive googled it as well as looking on here is it just the pulley thats the prob is it the solenoid too?

looks like mine was just the pulley, collecting car tomorow

on cold theres usually no noise, once warm rattly and sounds like a diesel.

not cheap though unfortunatly

it just sounds like a ticking noise, reminds me of a push rod fiesta engine lol

I just stripped mine apart for the same reason, turned out to be a cracked camshaft lobe.
