Take a look at my RR results

  BMW 123d/Rover Metro
Had my car dyno'd yesterday at Hi-Tech Motorsport, Cradley, West-Mids.

Current spec:

Full Yozza race system inc. de-cat
R.S stamped inlets
ITG panel filter
Always run on Tesco 99RON fuel

So Mick the "rolling road specialist" straps my car down jumps in and does his thing. He instantly asks me what cams i'm running as he said it seemed very strong at 3k compared to other Clio's he's had in, to which i reply, standard cams.

Anyway he walks over to me with the slip pictured below.

View attachment 74974

196bhp@7066rpm
161lb/ft@5570rpm

My instant reaction was that just can't be right, it's not possible so i asked him to run it up again and he returned with exactly the same result.
He then said that his RR machine self calibrates and that every week he has someone out to check all is good with it.

Has anyone else on here ever used this place, or ever had outrageous dyno results?

I just don't know what to think, i feel as though I've wasted my money to be honest.

How sure are you that the Cams are standard? How long have you owned the car? Is this the first time it has been RR'd?

If you haven't got cams or any other mods other than the ones listed, then yes - the RR is way off. Mine made very similar figures, but I have cams and a few other things in mine.

That place is down the road from where my mother lives i may go and try it lol. seems very extaggerd results!!

What was the cost if you don't mind me asking...

It was £48 inc. VAT.

Well I had the car completely standard last year and had it tested at a place called Viking in northfield, that came out at 171.4bhp and 145lb/ft.

The guy at Hi-Tech was adamant that the results were spot on but he would be!

WTF did he use to data log that an old green screen Amstrad or Acorn Electron!?! LoLz at the HiTech print out... Me thinks he needs a new printer. Takes me back to the early 90's that.

As above, they all say theirs is the best, most accurate dyno in the world but in truth non of them are and LoLz at the guy that comes every week to callibrate it. You need to choose a setup (preferably one that doesn't serve to boost your results) and stick with it to gauge better how your engine has responded to tuning. I always used Nick Hill @ HillPower till he sold up... I miss that guy.

Well I won't be going back there again that's for sure! I've been reading good things about RS Tuning in Leeds, it's a fair drive but sounds worth it.

Well worth taking your car to RS Tuning you can trust the roller's there aswell, Paul know's what he's doing.

Its the rollers, on the same car I've seen 167bhp on RS tunings rollers then 192bhp on TDI norths with 160+ lb/ft.... they privately admitted that standard civic type-r's run 210bhp on theirs...

With rr's its not the peak numbers but the changes that matter. Get a base number then make sure you return to that same one after mods. The only way for accuracy. Even then still slight variables
