Surely this can't be right?

  Clio 172 mk2
Never got near 50mpg in my 172 although I have had over 40 now and again.

Seems to be settling in the mid 30s now with mixed driving

I got 46 from Essex to Northampton Services last night, then 43 from Services to Leicester - I blame the 106 gti and Zetec S Fiesta I killed on the way home!

So 40's are possible!!!!!

i get around the 31 mark consistently. i'm sorry but if you're getting more than about 36ish then i'd say you're not using it's potential at all (unless you track it occasionally). though you could argue you can't use it "as intended" on the road anyway without overtly breaking the law

How do you use its potential on the motorway though which let face it is where most of us are getting our high mpg values. You dont need to drive it like a mad man all the time either :rasp: . I'm on 36mpg so far over this tank and that includes roughly 120 miles of motorway drving and 60 odd of spirted driving.

I did a 2,600 mile trip round Europe. TBH filled up before I left and was still on the same tank when I got home. 250mpg FTW.

My average is around 24-26... Why does my computer reset all the time, everytime i fill the baby up it erases my mpg, miles, average speed etc... just leave the total mileage???

Isit something im doing...?

If you reset the trip you lose it all iirc.

You guys want to drive something really juicy!! When I used to put my foot down in my old SX was getting 15mpg or so. I was lucky to ever see 25+ on a run. Thats what 300BHP and running rich does!

I can't believe how good my Clio 172 is on fuel!

  Monaco RS Clio 172
I have only just got my ph2 172.. and so far I have never dropped below 31mpg.. and that was driving quite heavy footed. mostly average 37-40.

I am also amazed at the fuel consumption coming from a 1.8 escort gti with only 115ps getting around 45-55 miles to £10 (only way to judge it in one of those lol)

:)

My Fiesta 1.4 16v, on a run to work and bak 24 - 27mpg thats granny driving. Motorway driving 34mpg is highest me and my dad who drives it now and then has seen.

My mates Clio 172 seen with my own eyes does 30+ mpg even around town. So i'm going for a 182 as it's cheaper to run than my Fiesta! And he can vouch for this aswell and my mpg out the Fiesta

i guess it's because most of my driving is in city or country lanes. though motorway driving would be a different matter

The figures quoted here seem quite high, i'd be pleased with that.

I get around 28mpg if i drive like my nan in my 197!
