Steering problem

Hi guys.

The problem that Im having is that if I hold the steering wheel straight then I can turn it to the left about 20 degrees with it having no effect on the wheels. It is like a dead spot. Ive been told that this could be caused by a number of things - eg. steering rack, a bush, etc.

Anyone got any ideas? Its a 93 mk1 Clio 1.8 16v.

Thanks for your help

yes mate it probmore than likely the column which r about 160 from reno. if u look at the column u will see just where it comes through the floor where its linked 2gether by a bush that bush breaks over time. if u dont wanna get a new column u can basically put a smal weld on it which would cost u bout 20 quid.alot of 16v williams owners have this prob and im pretty sure most weld there columns so it safe .im sure there r a few peeps on here who have done it
