starting issue

I have had problems starting recently some times its starts first time other times it doesn't but when I come back to it 20 mins later it starts have a blue tdc sensor but only had it in 6 months could it be that? Also it cranks over fine but just won't start it's doing my nut in can anyone help

hi got a cup like yourself had similar problem from cold and hot start,i replaced the coolant temp sensor and car battery and that worked,see if the trip computer keeps resetting itself,if so prob the battery m8

The battery was replaced 6 months ago would the cts cause it not to start?

hi yes the cts can cause starting problems,i replaced the tdc and loom it didnt fix mine,the fault was the cts it would crank but not fire,i think a faulty 1 causes probs with the ecu etc,got mine from gsf car parts they got a third off at the moment

Oh ok would love it if it was that it's driving me crazy only had the car 1 month love it but scared I am going to get stranded

It could also be a fuel pump/pressure related issue.

Also it never cuts out when am driving it so surely can't be fuel pump?

Light goes off

The pump is one thing, pressure regulation is another... Same assembly but not the same thing.

You really should have it looked at though as it could be electrical or mechanical.

Will do mate its doing my head in its totally random then I leave it for three hours and it starts first time

Without certain equipment though you're going to be guessing. Sometimes guessing/changing a common part is fine or is an exceptable gamble. Paying for a proper diagnostic session, not a code reading session, can be money well spent as it will tell you exactly what is wrong.

Booked the car in got it back and they are saying about immobiliser issue that's cutting the fuel anyone had this?

I think I have found out how to start it when it's cracking over if I hold the lock button on the dash it starts what could that be?

Reanult in Aldershot have had the car three days now are just waiting for it not to start so they can investigate it since they have had it it's done it once but once they pushed it in to the workshop it started just hope I can fix this really don't want to have to get rid of it will be a very very sad man

Not at all. I wouldn't let them do that. They'll just keep replacing parts until they fix it or you run out of money. Why can't they find the fault? I'd take the car back from them and take it to @MicKPM if he's close to you. It'll be cheaper and a lot better an experience.

Have also notice when I am driving along on cold mornings the temperature goes in the middle then goes down slightly then back up then down would this be coolant temperature sensor?

Reanult said it's not the cts sensor what they think it is is the aftermarket alarm would this cause it to crank over but not starting?

Andy your gonna end up with a renault big bill,if they just start replacing stuff,for the cost of the fuel take it to someone on here,i had no error codes regarding cts,but replaced it and no problem since with cranking

totally agree mate think I need to take it to a specialist in Surrey just don't know where yet

Have you checked the earth straps? It could be an earthing issue. Try taking them off and cleaning the terminals up, I had similar issues on my old 172 - the temperature guage shot all over the place and it occasionally wouldn't start... The nearside earth strap under the arch liner needed replaced and it sorted it.

It may also be worth checking the electrical relays under the bonnet (three black ones) the terminals could have verdigree or something on them!

Bit of a update have fixed the problem had the key and decoder ring replaced can't wait to drive it been two weeks have a new problem the drivers footwell is soaked if it's not one thing it's another lol
