Speaker Wiring

  Clio
Hi, I'm new to these forums and after a good search I didn't find a definitive answer to this query:

Just got a new Clio mkIII and have installed the head unit (Blaupunkt Casablanca MP56) from my last car to replace the stock HU.

I'm only planning on running speakers off the HU (max 4x50W rms) just now and so I'm just wondering if I need to lay better speaker wire or is the existing wire good enough?

i would keep the same wiring unless i decided to amp the speakers...
changing the wiring can be done and could help the quality slightly..

a friend of mine is running some heavy duty speaker wires on his door speakers.. and it did help the quality

also are you on about door speakers or after market 6x9s or something?

Well seeing as the standard wiring on most cars is bundled with lots of other wires carrying voltage (albeit very little), I'd be interested to see whether it would make more of a difference than on a home cinema system..

I bought a load of silver wire for my 5.1 setup years ago, and I don't use it anymore so I'm tempted to steal some of the wire and put it in my car. It was £15/m when I bought it!

well they come with a set of tweeters.. so would be good to fit them too i guess...

coax way better then the original cone speakers
