Snappy is a miracle worker! (taken from my project thread)

This morning I took delivery of my favourite upgrade for any car I have ever owned. Snappy is well known on these forums for being the man to go to when you want your steering wheel re-trimmed and so I did just that. All the way through the process Snappy was fantastic with communication and even sent me a few update photos via SMS. I went for black leather with blue stitching and blue center marker and black thumb grips with black stitching. The quality of the work is second to none and I honestly can't recommend this guy enough, the improvement to the interior of the car is amazing and I personally see it as an investment. I would of paid twice the £120 cost of this and still been more than happy. I will let the photos do the rest of the talking (although I apologise for their poor quality) (the silver center marker you can see in one pic is my mates - he may post pics of his in the future).

Looks great! Just what mine needs!

How long did it take from sending the wheel off and getting it back? I need my car on a daily basis as I live in the middle of nowhere - everywhere is driving distance!!

He now works on an exchange basis (so long as he has your type in stock) so you don't have to take your car off the road. You pay him an extra £45 for the wheel and he gives you the money back when you send your old one back to him.

The process from the first picture to me receiving it was less than a week. The legend even sent me progress pics on New Years Day morning as he worked, whilst I and most of the world was still hungover.

Id love this but it being different to the air bag would annoy me :(

Think this is the second wheel I've seen done by him. His work looks excellent the only thing that lets it down is the airbag module.

Could he do an aftermarket steering wheel? The suade has worn off on mine wouldnt mind it trimmed in leather now

Hi Steve,
Ive been down the place where i get my leather from this morning , come away with a anthricite ( dark grey ) sample of hide its not a bad match if the black bothers you .

I don't mean that in a bad way mate. Your work is that good that it shows up the crappy Renault bit. Would you be able to do a Megane 225 wheel out of interest?

I know what you mean ha ha , but i thought id try and get some greyish leather just in case people wanted it to match the airbag.
As for the megane wheel cant see there been any problems .

Snappy can you retrim Sabelt cup racer wheels? Mine has turned into a minging grubby mess of suade, would like it retrimmed in leather or similar.

No problem mate , just pm me with some details, people ask for alcantara, but i advise them not to have it as you say it goes really grubby.

snappy - fantastic workmanship mate. Looks the dogs danglies! When I get my Trophy back from the engine rebuild I'll be dropping you a PM. Anthracite with red detailing would be awesome (if possible). :D

I have to say I would have no interest in retrimming a melted wheel. The wheel is way too big to start with.

I'd be heading down the sabelt route. Infact it would be one of the first mods.

Changes the whole feel of the car.

Best mod I done to my ph1 was a Sabelt wheel.

while this is true, i got mine done by snappy (which reminds me i need to get a thread up) i like to keep mine oem and losing my airbag and cruise control id rather keep the big wheel

I would agree Alcantara can go grubby but if you look after it, cleaning wise etc it will last.

Hardly like the standard wheel lasts. Melts at the sight of hands.

I see what you're saying Gally. I just want to keep mine nice an OEM, and still have the the cruise control intact.

I'll be sending you a pm very soon snappy. You're only down the road from me too.

Im getting my sabelt retrimmed in leather. Or should i stay with normal material?

Am unsure how it will look with leather. Mates got an omp one thats leather and it looks alright.

Ideas?

When I first bought the Clio I thought the wheel was huge compared to other cars I'd driven, but now it's fine and I love the retrimmed wheel. I bought a smaller aftermarket wheel before I had this trimmed and as soon as I saw it I knew it wasn't right for my interior or what I wanted to achieve. I like the OEM look.

Love that! Had my Impreza Type R retrimmed by TrimDeluxe in suede and feels great!

I'll be be giving Snappy a shout when I get the 182 wheel done for sure :)
