Short transmission for my Mk2 172

Hi all,

My original one is 15/58 and unfortunately my synchromeshes make this irritating sound when I shift in high revs. So it time to open the transmission and get it fixed. I want to buy 15/61 transmission for my mk2 172 instead of using the standard one 15/58.

I heard that 182s already have 15/61 as standard.

Do you think it will give me an advantage in accelerating?

have a look into a 1.6 16v box im not sure what the ratios are but i do know it fits! its apparently slightly weaker though not sure on the differences of the 2, or you can use a 1.2 box! lol

Actually Laguna transmission is 15/61 and it fits directly to our mk2 172s. So I will go for that.
