Sealed/none sealed calipers

  182 cup
Hi folks I know the discussion about 4 pot calipers has already
been done to death, but being a total novice/doofus I would like to know
the difference between sealed and none sealed calipers, why is it ok to
use none sealed on track but not on the road.

Don’t calipers get more abuse on the track than on the road?

  Vectra :(
Using non sealed on the road will see you having to maintain and clean them a lot more than normal calipers i.e. depending on milage you will need to clean them weekly

My old Williams has unsealed 4 pot brakes and they were fine I never had to maintain them did a few k on them. At MOT time it needed one caliper rebuilding I think but the parts were cheap.

Mark at Richspeed used the same setup on his rally car and only had to change the seals once I think.

Dirt is the problem. Seal calipers are more expensive so unless its for track use only or very low millage I'd stick with sealed calipers
