Rubbing on new Pilot Sport 5 tyres

Hi all,

I have a 2004 182 which previously had standard alloys with 205/45/16 Falkens. It's running cup dampers and H+R springs. It never touched anywhere before on bumpy fenland roads.

I have some 45offset Turinis, Pilot Sport 5 tyres and it's rubbing noticeably. It seems to be the bumper bracket and on the passenger side the metal inner arch itself.

Firstly, is this normal ?

Secondly, does anyone have a measurement from wheel rim to wheel arch so I can see if it's a particularly low spring or something else is going on. No idea on spring age so they may have sagged ?

Hopefully it's a simple fix as it handles brilliantly at the minute just as I like it.

I shall give them a look.

Are they progressive or is it a hard stop? I didn't think I'd be running into them so frequently ?

The bumpstops are progressive on these, basically secondary damping, you are on them quite often when driving quick.

I destroyed a bumpstop on a trackday riding the kerbs, and went from no catching to quite a lot. They fail with age too, splitting down the middle.

as above I had this with a 172 I bought that someone had fitted lowering springs and not fitted the bump stops, it ran at fairly sensible height and I couldn't for the life of me work out why I was getting rubbing as i had never felt one "hitting" the bump stops so assumed it shouldn't have been going that far
