removing the dash

  clio mk2 p1 1.4 16v
what kind of job is removing the dash from a 2000 reg renault clio? i need to do this to get to the cobra alarm unit just for peoples info ive been reading thease threads for about 2 weeks on this subject and almost every one has been incorrect with their theorys on where the alarm is, ive actually talked to renault and then technical support and then the professional, and he tells me its actually in the car and the fuse should be with the unit not in the fuse boxes

so any way whats it like to remove the dash and refit it?

dont do it in a rush else it will beat you. It CAN be a complete arse if (like me) you lose you rag and start using brute force and ignorace when you catch your knuckles for the 18th time and it wont shift !
best tip i can give is remove the plastic pillars and then refit the rubbers to stop u catching the dash on the exposed frame as you'll mark it

i took mine off to fit tweeters, didnt find it very hard, that guide in the post above is very helpful. My local audio shop told me most people bend the bar behind their passenger airbag when taking it off, so if you do then straighten it back out with pliers. I have had mine off twice though and i havent bent it, so just take a bit of care!

Ive got the same problem mate with the alarm. I pretty much think it has to be at the back of the dash, like you said.

Ive spoke to a couple of alarm specialists, one of whome recond it was in the bottom of the nearside footwell, but it isnt.

Good luck taking the dash out and sorting out your alarm, let me know how you get on as im struggleing in the same department.

172 cup mate.

My central locking is fine, my car is either alarming itself permanently or disarming itself permanently.

Im looking for the fuse to replace it, and hopefully sort out my problem, though I have to admit, im going to have to be pesimistic and I think im looking at a new alarm box, but I need to eliminate all possible theorys beforehand.

Like I said, good luck mate and keep me posted.

Oh, and by the way, thanks for the usefull advise/knowledge so far.
