removing standard gear knob

i have a mk2 ph2 1.2 clio and was wonderin if neone knew how to remove the gear knob to replace, heard that you have to cut it is this tru and if so wat you use to do it??

lol, nope its quite a bit easier to get swan neck pliers (not sure about the spelling) and the twist it off, thats how i got mine off, hope that helps
