Removing alternator

  none :(
Hi, ok so just about everything on my car has gone wrong so far but now it is time for the alternator , its completely dead, had it checked and its not putting out anything at all. Is there any chance this could possibly be fixed? like is it just dirty inside and causing the brushes or wire or whatever to not be able to do what they are meant to do properly.

If so how do you remove it? i have found one bolt that holds it on so far, the only part i am worried about is the belt....is this easy to put back on? if not can it be driven to a garage without an alternator in (garage roughly 15 miles away) and do i need to take anything else off to get to it?

my car is a 1.2 8 valve 1998 mk2 ph1

you need to drop the tention off the belt. there should be an ajuster on it, loosen it and slide the belt off the alternator.

then remove all the leads and the earth held on at the back of the alternator with the nut

remove all the bolts holding the alternator in.

change it,

re fit it, bolt up nice and tight.

slide the belt over in the original order (look how it was before you removed it)

re tenetion so on all runs on the belt you can twist it using one finger and thum 45 degrees, no more no less.

re connet the alternator.

job done
