Remap options...

  172 Cup
I want to remap my 172 Cup in the new year. What do you think the best option is?

1. KTR remap
2. Jamesstone Automotive remap - seems cheaper than KTR but is there any benefit of going to KTR over Jamesstone?
3. Buy an RsTuner and do it myself? Seems complicated and I dont want to mess it up.

I have heard that a remap will improve throttle response, even out any flat spots, improve fuel efficiency, and generally make the car better to drive. Would you agree with this?

I am expecting to pay under £250 for the remap no matter where i go, is that right?

Thanks in advance

RS Tuner and do it yourself makes most sense financially, just make sure you get the fuelling checked over afterwards if you cant do so yourself.

I used the RS Tuner and found it much easier to use than I thought. Would recommend it, made the car drive much better.

thanks for the speedy replies, so what would be a total cost for buying the RS Tuner and doing it yourself be? if its only going to save me £10-£20 then i might as well let a specialist do it and save the hassel of having to check fueling etc.

Buy secondhand and unlock it is likely to be the cheapest option.

I think James Stone only charges about 150 though, so still well under your budget. And obviously then you have the support of the person who has probably done the most of these remaps out of anyone in the UK to notice if anything isnt as it should be with how the car drives afterwards.

nice one peanuthead, i will take a look on that site. TBH i think going to James Stone makes sense as its not to far away and like you and Chip say, he knows his stuff so will definitely do it properly first time.

Thanks for your help guys, I will feedback once i have had it done.
