Rebuilding and servicing 172 cup calipers

  172 cup
How easy is this to do? Are there any guides? Also where can i get the seals and anything else i need? Thanks for any help

You can order all the seals etc. from Renault. Its very easy to do. Once you have the caliper in your hand all will become clear. The pistons should come out pretty easily but if they are corroded in a grease gun on the bleed nippled works well to force the piston out. Does mean you need to clean up accordingly afterwards though!

You can order new pistons as well but TBH if they aren't corroded below the dust seal there is no point. A bit of corrosion on the inside (open side) of the piston won't make any difference.

Main areas you need to pay attention to and replace if neccesary are the slides and their seals, the piston seals, the piston dust shield/boot and the piston itself if it is corroded/damaged.

If there is corrosion on the interior of the caliper bore which will not remove with a slight application of 800 - 1200 grit wet and dry then its scrap.

Cheers
