Rear wiper now won't stop in the down position..

This happened at random the other day, rear wiper done a complete sweep but instead of finishing there it partially came up again & stopped half way up the screen, when i tried again, it either done the same but sometimes won't work at all. If i just leave the wiper 'on' it'll eventually work but it's luck as to whether it stops at the bottom or not.

I wonder if this a relay fault, or is it a stepper motor & is that faulty ?

Are you 100% sure the spindle on the wiper motor isn't turning inside the wiper arm? Remove the cover on the rear wiper arm you will see a small nut, turn the wiper on and see if the spindle is turning. If it is the wiper arm needs replacing as it has worn the bush that sits over the spindle.
