Never really done a Project thread for the Trophy since day one so thought i would start one for the Monaco 172 (Named Cleopatra)

More or less bought this blind and it does have its faults which I'm working my way through, There is some issues but once again nothing you won't expect from a 53 Plate with 88K on the clock.

So this was the car when i bought it.

Today has been the first day i have managed to do some stuff on the car as small as it is.
Replaced Rear Wiper To A Valeo
Replaced Front Wipers To Bosch Aero Ones
Changed The Pollen Filter
Sorted The Problem With The Radio Staying On Once Key Out Of The Ignition (Fuse Had Blown)
Bought A Headlight Kit For £11.00 & Sorted The Head Lights
Took It To The Jet Wash & Sprayed All Door, Boot Checks & Engine Bay With GUNK & Cleaned It.
Snow Foamed The Car And Under All The Arches.
Changed Front & Rear Plates For Good Clear Ones With No Garage Name Or Postcode.

Small update today as @optical kindly donated an airbox with filter and hoses and i managed to get some stuff from renault during the week to sort some small annoying problems.

So took off the universial K&N style air filter off and the bottom half of the old air box and fitted the new one.

Next up was the 2 small plastic rivets that i noticed where missing, got a couple of these and fitted them on either side of the grill.

The rear number plate light was dull and the clip had broken so got the new unit and the loom that comes with it.

I was thinking about getting a new light for the number plate, I think that has sealed my decision, looks miles better!

So what's the Plans for Cleopatra then Marc?

It was bought as a run about as i was sick of the other half getting the A3 covered in horse sh*t and smelly boots and jackets so we bought this for her to use but my OCD has kicked in and its getting better treatment than the Trophy.

It goes away into SWR next week after the Trophy comes back from there and its getting all belts , Dephaser , Water Pump , Full Service , New Driveshafts and anything else that it needs.

It drives like a dream with no crunching, banging, or any other issues.

Ha ha the obsession starts :)..... You sound a lot like me!!

I'm looking at picking up another one too, possibly some cheap and cheerful fun, never really ends up that way though lol! Cleopatra most possibly being a prime example lol....!

Will be good watching how she develops

Some more updates on the little thing.

Wanted to change the side lights to decent LEDs that match the xenons so first up was that and the quickest way was to pop the bumper off.

Project%20Cliopatra%2033.jpg

Project%20Cliopatra%2034.jpg

While the bumper was off i seen that the core of the radiator was hanging out on both sides as well as missing.
Its not leaking which is crazy and its not over heating and runs perfect but thought i would get on the case and buy a new rad

Project%20Cliopatra%2039.jpg

As it will be going to get a coolant change and a new radiator i also bought a coolant bottle

Project%20Cliopatra%2040.jpg

As its then going away to get all the belts done along with the dephaser i just thought it would be a very good time to change the alternator so bought a new unit.

Project%20Cliopatra%2036.jpg

And thanks to @Dr Jekyll he sold me this ECU bracket thats in tact as mine is burst and squeaking its head off so another small job is to change that.

What was wrong with the old alternator?

Steve with the luck I'm having i would change all the belts and 4 weeks down the line the Alternator would go so may as well kill two birds with one stone.

Alternator was only £100 with the surcharge added so it was cheap

Got the V5C through the door today and it turns out this poor wee car has had 10 Owners and I'm now the 11th, Not bad considering its only done 88k. Wee Monaco has been passed about like a cheap amsterdam hooker with a stag party at her window.

Going to continue to spend money and keep this wee thing going.

The Trophy Turini's are little rough but in time i will get them sorted out and powder coated so until then it was best to put them on the old monaco
