Power cap

  Mazda 2, MX5 Mk2.5 Sport

power cap stores sum juice to keep the sound clear even when blasting really low bass out the battery alone would not be able to meet the demands of the subs.

Power caps basically store energy from the battery to send to an amp when the long heavy bass notes kick in. The general rule is that you need 1 farad per 1000 watts RMS. However power caps dont always do exactly what they say on the tin. There is a debate as to whether they actually improve system performance enough to warrant splashing out for one. You could get better performance from a larger battery or a split charge system. For example, our demo car system has around 3500 watts RMS, 3 batteries and NO power caps...and you wont notice any drop in the bass department.
