Phs 1 172 exhaust

  clio 172 phs 1
Bought an exhaust back box from my motor factors 1 year ago,it last a few months and the rear hanger bracket weld broke off,got another under warranty and this one has done exactly the same......cheap rubbish, anyone else had the same?

It was half the price of a genuine Renault one but in hindsight should have just bought a genuine one in the first place....

I want to keep the car standard, also dont like how the stainless steel ones sit,as the tailpipe sits too low.....

Yeah the aftermarket standard parts are pretty poor really.

Not all hand down too low though, have a look for a second hand Yozza stealth or a brand new JP exhaust from Ktec racing (same thing)

BTB also do properly hidden exhausts

Get a stainless BTB Exhaust...

Standard good stealth looks, beats or meets the mild steel genuine Renault part!
(that's what i did anyways)

Do a search on BTB.

Not used the car much this year, this latest back box has lasted 6months/700miles!!!!!......and the hanger bracket weld has snapped again!

Smarten up?????

Dont see the point in buying a really expensive exhaust for a car i hardly use at the moment.....think i'll just opt for a genuine renault one.

Whats the best option then guys, only need a backbox, dont want one that hangs down below the bumper, not gonna spend silly money either!!!!

So back down to the motor factors with my exhaust this morning, its a "timax" back box and they come with a 2 year warranty so back box number 3 is on its way,in the space of 1,500miles/1yr and 3months.....lets see how long this one will last!

Hi Fraser,
If you send me your address I can get a current stock part strengthened for you as a one off, although it wont be the new design (they are not in stock yet) I can ensure you fit something more rigid later this week and avoid a 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] re-occurrence for the part.

Is that OK for you? We could get it to you for Thursday this week..

Thanks, Doug

Hi Fraser,
I have just checked and we are actually re-designing this part at the moment, as another customer has highlighted it to a colleague of mine.
Could you delay the fitting till later this week, and we send you a new design one in the next couple of days so the new one you have fitted is rectified?

Thanks, Doug

I am picking up my 3rd replacement back box tomorrow and I'm pretty sure the same is going to happen with this one if it has not been modified.....where do I stand as a customer?

Hi Fraser,
I am sorry to hear you have had a recurring problem with this part and thank you for bringing it to our attention.
We agree with your analysis that we need to improve our bracket design.
I will have a look at re-design for this part and action improvements for our products going forwards.

Thank-you, Doug.

Good stuff mate, happened to the timax I had on a Clio I'd not long bought but had been planning a stainless anyway so never thought to tell them.
