Overpowering sub

my viper d1200 is arriving 2moro & ive got the eminence LTD 15inch sub (400watts rms & 4 ohms dvc)

im gona have it wired up so the amp gives out 800 watts rms at 2ohms

will this damage my sub & how will this sound?

You should be fine as long as you dont turn the gain up to max on the amp. Why would you want to run 2 ohms instead of 4 ohms, when 4 ohms will give out more than enough power to run the sub. Youll loose a lot of dampening because of it.

nope..i wasnt fine...i blew da sub...even with gains down but i admit i was crankin it to da max alot & distortin it...da sub was 4 ohms dvc so it can only run 2 ohms or 8 ohms...not 4 ohms unless u connect only 1 of da voice coils which i was doin with my preveous amp which wasnt 2ohm stable.
