Only replacing the selector seal.

I have the standard selector seal weep. Given the part to resolve it is so cheap I just want it sorted.

Now, it is of course technically possible to do, but if I split the box to only replace this aspect of it, is there any reason why I wouldn't just be able to put it back together? The box is fine other than this and before you say it, nope, I'm not rebuilding it. When the time comes I will get a diff so a rebuild would currently be waster. I just want to stop the car leaking on the drive.

Mechanical ability is not an aspect here, I just haven't ventured into one of these boxes before.

Nope, no reason at all. Don’t replace just the seal though. Do the bushes as well. They wear and allow the seal to leak as the selector shaft elongates the seal due to excessive play.

Cheaper to just buy the little tray you clip underneath and pop some pigmat in it.
Replace every week/month/year depending on severity
