"Numb" steering feel

Hi Guys,

Starting to enjoy the 182 now but the main thing I notice over a Mk1 is steering feel. my car feels especially "numb" at the straight ahead position which affects turn-in when I am pressing on. Once the car is really moving then the handling is fine, very good in fact, but it is just that initial bite that doesn't feel right....

Any suggestions before I start replacing everything? Done a search and the most popular things seem as follows -

1) decent tracking check
2) decent tyres!
3) Steering rack rubbers
4) Track rod ends

any other suggestions?

have you ticked all the above to begin with, in particular tyres and tracking?

oh and simple answer, sell the shed and buy another mk1
