Nikon D5100 idiots guide wanted

I've just bought this camera from Ebay. Its almost new and has the 18-55 VR lens. I'm off abroad on Wednesday so I need an idiots guide on how to use this. I've got a memory card for it, and it has 2 batteries also. I know how to 'point and shoot' but would like a quick guide on how to make the most of it. Cheers.

best thing you could do is switch the mode dial to green and blast away. When you start to find this a limitation then begin to experiment/read up as to the effect you are trying to achieve.

Cheers. I'm probably going to go to Manchester Airport tomorrow to watch a few planes go in and out, and if the weather holds it'll be a good bit of practice.
