Newbie...bit of peace of mind???

  Mini Cooper D
I am new on here, just want a bit of peace of mind, just put a deposit down on a silver 04 182 ff, with less than 16k miles on it, agreed at £5,250, enjoyed test driving it, just want some peace of mind that I have done the right thing!! Did i get a good deal? Pickin it up next sat.
Also; by the sounds of it reading on here, it will be nearly time for a big service (belts etc. at 5yrs) is there anywhere that people here can recommend for a good deal and take good care of my new motor? Im based in East Lancs. near Burnley, so Lancs or Yorks areas
Thanks in advance guys!

Certainly low mileage, a full service and cambelt change is a tad expensive due to the size of the engine in relation to the bay. What colour is it?

  Mini Cooper D
Yeah, silver.
Expensive, yep thats what Im afraid of, but also the reason I saved a bit of cash by not splashing out on a Focus RS!! Had a moment of enlightenment and decided to keep a bit saved back for these eventualities / inevetibilities!!
Just want to make sure I get the best deal and best care for it!! Rather than gifting cash to the stealers!

duh, ooops. Brain fail...

But very good price for such a low mileage car.

It does sound like a good deal, in todays credit crunching climate it is certainly a buyers market. Does it have the cup packs ? Asuuming FSH. Cambelt Service wise, main stealers will be looking at around £850-900 but a good specialist independant around £550. Good Luck with the new car :) Any pics ?

No cup packs, was drawn to it by the mileage, it was a bit of a toss up between such low mileage or the extra's, best of both worlds proved to few and far between at my budget; also with the amount of cash I have blown previously on car reliability issues:banghead:, thought the lower mileage would be slightly wiser choice; easier on the wallet...hopefully!?

Oh dont get me wrong; I have come to expect it! and have taken it into account! However, I am about to start a new job that will not require me to rack up the miles (my present job is a 80 miles round trip just commuting!! reliability was the biggest concern but was constantly forking out).
I will; from next Monday, only have to walk to work, so wanted something of a weekend car with my budget, but at the same time and money, didnt want to tempt fate by buying for eg. a dog of a Trophy et al. with loadsa miles. (probably temting fate right now though!) Thinking that the lesser mileage car "should" stand a chance of being less problematic??!!

I'd wait. It's not a bad deal, but it's not got cup packs, and it's one of the less desirable colours. Car prices are only going to go lower, I'd wait for a car with cup packs. The 182 without cup packs is pretty much the same as a 172.

Yep, I understand that too, I had an MR2 roadster recently, hoping for the renowned Jap reliability...it was a pig!! Had it a year and spent spent probably half again what I paid for it! Don't get me started on an Alfa I owned!
They are all individual; understood, just working the probabilities!!!

Cheers Warren4, only problem is; I only have a week left before I am car-less, I am in a company car at the mo, which I am giving back this week!!

tbh i'd rather have a few more miles and both cup packs.

The mileage is important to me, would have had to spend at least 1.5k -2k more for as low mileage and cup packs; can these features not be retro'd individually later as a matter of personal taste i.e. the alloys, personally, I would prefer Trophy's Turini's (or even the Twingo's) to the "standard" cup anthracites, also; i'm sure I have read the front splitter and rear spoiler being fitted aftermarket on here?! Or am I missing anything else that the cup packs offer?

yeah they can all be retro fitted.

the big ball ache is the cup suspension, which wouldnt be worth retro fitting, u might as well just put coil overs or something on.

There are two cup packs.

Suspension Pack - is lower and stiffer than standard and some different hub spacing, and the anthracite wheels too.
Spoiler Pack - Bigger Rear Spoiler and front splitter.

Both make considerable differences and worth holding out for. I've had my 54 Plate 182 for 3 months, previously owned a 172 and I love the 182, the cup handling is so much more precise than the non-cup (which is the 172 setup).
