Well as weird as it sounds my dephaser pulley has fixed itself. All gone quiet as a mouse I keep thinking I've stalled!
I didn't touch a thing either!
Got me thinking maybe something like an oil leak affecting pressure or a problem with the oil pump or phaser solenoid might cause the symptoms more common than the pulleys failing?
