my brake pedal seems spongy

i havent driven the car any differently than normal its just the brake pedal appears to be really spongy and they arent as sharp when first pressed? it was serviced last week and the chap said that my rear discs and pads were about half worn????

Maybe there is some air in the brake fluid and they need bled.
