modifying coilovers from 182 FF to 172 cup

  RB 182
Who has done this and what was involved? What is the spacing difference between centres for each model?

If I machine the hole centres, is there anything stopping me slotting one hole, or making the one hole larger and machining a rocker spacer like the AST Sportline II coilovers? as below...

I don't really want to weld anything.

Would it be easier just to change the 182 cup hubs to the 172? Never done it but sounds easier than modifying the coilovers to a layman like me

They fit straight on because 172 cup and 182FF has the same bolt spacing! only the cup is different
