Mk2 Ph1 xenon/hid conversion (JimmyJ, Chrisjk etc.)

I have a mk2 ph1 with the dual optic headlights (as fitted to the 172), I want to install HID's. What I'm after is a step by step guide before I go ahead with it.

Also how do you mount the ballasts, and are the bulbs easy enough to fit?

Is it a bumper off job (bearing in mind its not a sport there is a bit of room to change bulbs etc)

Could someone be kind enough to quickly put up a step by step guide?

I have them fitted it's just plug and play no bumper off job, bulbs just go in as if you where changing a bulb.

I have just cable tied the ballast packs in securely, did have a bit of trouble installing them but only because the instructions where in chinese was a simple mistake (plugging in the wrong connector).

They look the nuts went for 6k

i got myne from ebay for £45 with ballast, bulbs etc, its the best £45 i have ever spent! night time driving is so clear, and they look the nuts!

But be prepared to piss people off as they are fookin bright, people are always flashing me, i feel bad every time:dapprove:

6000k the best to go for then? Would 8000k be too blue?

i have 8000k they are like an light ice cool blue if that sounds rite, not like them guys in saxos with there 5 quid painted blue bulbs from halfrauds.

I thought 8k would be too blue 6k has just that slight edge to it, the bloke i got it from on ebay has a picture with the different bulb types set against a wall check it out.
Looks really good with the projectors not like them tossers that fit it to halogen units.

lol sorry mate wasn't aimed at you, round this way we have all the wide boys golfs fitted with the hid kits 12k etc that just blind you to s**t, I haven't seen a clio with them fitted so can't say if they're as bad as some of the shitheaps that have them on round here.

Is this the item you bought, looks really good, is it just £44.99 shipped and no other VAT or customs charges or anything, just worried as it mentions something about them in the description.

yea u gotta watch out for them customs charges, i bought my psp from japan, it arrived, then 2 weeks later i had to pay £25 customs charge, was not a happy bunny:dapprove:

yup that's the ones I bought was just £44 shipped no customs etc he marks it as gift with note inside and marks value as like $20 or summit like that.
Was a smooth transaction but because it was the Chinese new year when I got mine I had to wait a while as the courier never picked the item up for a while but only took 3 days when they did collect it (kept watching it on tracker)

they look excellent im getting them tomorrow , doesnt look much difference but unless you have washer jets its supposedly illegal to have HID lamps fitted so i would probs go with the 6000 so as not to attract too much attention

only illegal if you have xneons that havent had washers fitted in the factory, no rule for aftermarket ones strangly

Only just noticed the thread mate sorry. I went for 6000k as you know and tbh tey look great, the 8000k kits i've seen look a bit too blue to me.
And regarding mounting the balasts, my attemp has failed, the glue broke away and the ballast pack fell off . So i shall have to find a better way of mounting them.
