mk2 gear knob removal

this has probably been asked loads of times but how do you get the dam thing off? ive been trying for ages but cant seem to get it off.

wait til the third stroke of the fourth hour of the 12th of feb, stand on a coke can, lean into the car carefully and press the horn three times. then lean accross lift the gearstick and push it into the 'Reverse' position, take a tight hold of the knob, pull and twist like a b*****d.

It should come off... carefull not to punch the dash or crush the coke can when it does though. Other than that i've no idea, never tried. brute force is always good for stuff like that anyway.

try heating it up to melt the glue ( i'm just guessing)

Yeh i would go with heating it with a heat gun (not a hairdryer) then pair of welding gloves and give it a good pull.
