Hi, my car is a Renault Clio Mk2 (1999 Phase 1 model).
The back back of the exhaust has come of due to corrosion. I have sourced a replacement exhaust from a scrapped car and have been told the rear axle needs to be lowered in order to fit.
Due to lack of mechanical skills and as a student money is tight so I though I would do the work myself (plus its Christmas so none of the garges are open). However, before I got the spare I assumed I could easily just bolt exhaust in place (along with exhaust gas sealant paste) but from looking at the the exhaust and the gap between the body and rear axle it looks like a tight fit.
Is it possible to fit the replacement through the gap WITHOUT lowering the axle. I have ramps and axle stands on hand (obviously going until car with just a jack supporting the car is suicide).
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards
David
