Mk1 & Mk2 Seatbelts compatable?

I'm looking for a way of keeping my standard front seatbelts when fitting aftermarket seats, does anyone know whether a Mk2 (i.e. 172 Cup) seatbelt will fit in a Mk1 (i.e. 1990-98) buckle? If they'll fit then an old Mk1 rear buckle looks ideal.

Alternatively has anyone found a way of keeping the standard seatbelts when running bucket seats? I'll be using OMP subframes.
