mk 1 clio owners......what tyre size do you use?

  Punto Evo Abarth
hello, as the title says, what do you guys with mk 1 clios use, as i thought the correct tyre size is 195/45/15, but can i get a 195/50/15 on without it rubbing and not messing up my speedo too much? thanks for your help :):rasp:

I use 195/50/15s with no probalem I think there 1% different buy with tyre wear equaling more than 1% difference there won't be an issue.
How much it rubbs depends how low you are what offset wheels and ifg you have a William setup or not.

185/55/15's are the standard size on the Williams.

I use 195/50/15's tho.. they feel more "planted" to me and also cheaper.. :p

I had 195/50/15's on my 1.2 also. (Then 195/45/15..)

It depends what model of Clio you have as to how different they are.. 185/55 to 195/50, for example, isn't very much at all, so speedo isn't a big issue.

same as me, mine is 60mm on the front and no problems..doesnt catch on full lock either. on the back its 100mm[about], it used to catch on the arch lining, but thats worn away now. did on the actual arch aswell. so i had them rolled. no problems what so ever now :)

195/50/15's lowered 35mm scrubbed on my 1.2 over bumps!

195/45/15's were fine tho!

Definetly get 195/45's..

and it rubs on full lock (and with an engine in the back!) but is fine for day to day driving.

ive got a 97 mk 1 ph 3 on 195/50 15's (ET 35) lowered 55 mil front 80 mil rear. ive taken out the small arch lining at the back that clips onto the bumper and the small front piece that clips onto the front bumber.

only slight rub i get is if i hit speed bumps too hard, the rear passenger side rubs very slightly. doesnt rub with 4 people in the car neither, just when you go over big bumps.

The steering is lighter compared to my previous tyres (185/55s) but you get a harsher ride.

id stick with 195/45 tyres if you got after market wheels and a heavy drop like 60mm, otherwise the front and rears will probably catch!!took my car down to bb performance tuning and as it had 195/50/15's they wouldnt even lower it -35mm they told me to get 45's and now its planted 60mm and no signs of rubbing, 195/45/15's all day long

FOR SALE: '97 Clio 1.4 RT
Ppl who have lowered... have u kept in the splash guard? (arch lining) or removed it? Just curious... some ppl say it doesnt get in the way.

i got a 60/80 mil drop on 195/50 15's (et35) and mine dont catch. ive never heard it catch on the front ever. if i hit speed bumps a little too fast while 2 up, it rubs a little on passenger side rear, thats it

if its lowered it will rub unless its a 16v/Willy

i work with wheels all the time at work and ive seen loads of Clio's try 195/50 and its very very tight, it rubs on anythin other than a perfect surface

use 195/45
