Strange title, as, well, its a strange mix of styles.
I was asked to wrap this originally around a year ago, and finally carried the work out about two months ago.
Car before
Hes a young kid, so its very 'scene' although when i mentioned this on another forum, i got ripped to peices, as apparently its 'not' scene... mmmmm
Brief details - barbed wire around intake pipe, ball pit install, massive dice gearknob, mini alleycats, and pretty low. oh, and far to many stickers.
This is the original sketch i got of what he wanted, looks quite cool imo.
So lets get started.
Car was brought into the workshop, and plates, bra and repeaters removed and bodywork cleaned down.
Started off with the grill as its a new type of film i was using for the first time.
onto the bumper, getting the trickiest bits out of the way first
round to the wings, and the front end is pretty much done
This is where it got tricky. The eagle eyed among you will notice 4 scallops on the sketch. i advised the lad that this would not be possible due to him still having rub strips, and the stippled paint in the sills is a b*****d to work with, the paint on this car wasnt amazing to start with. I also had to change the design so that the repeaters would remain 'hidden' within the wrap.
So, out comes the calculator, and the masking tape.
Now dont stress, theres a way of cutting film on the car, without touching the paintwork, but as if im gonna tell my secrets!
and now for the 'pinstriping'
He is planning on removing the rub strips at some point, hence why the wrap was done this way
Repeat for the other side, and 6 hours has passed, which is annoying as i could of wrapped most of this car in that time in plain black!
Plates back on, and tadaaaa
Yes, it is a chrome oldskool beetle bumper, and no, i dont like it either
And some better photos the owner has taken. The car has since been offered two mag features, and won two trophies!
