I really want to run a car on veg oil now but I doubt i'd be happy with a painfully slow car though, this is more up my street asuming it's old enough to run on straight veg oil without dying?

3.0L straight 6 turbo £700, obviously it won't be £30 car tax but it is a hell of a tank.

Pretty cheap for one of them them. The OM engines are good for boost! Strap a holset to the b**ch and watch it light up the back wheels

Yea the old diesels used a mechanical Bosch pump, it's great for running Veg.

Seems kinda pointless to do that on a car that's going to be s**t on fuel though surely? The offset in cost means you may aswell drive a punto or something.

Yeah you're right, I just like the idea of running some old straight 6 turbo tank on veg oil.

I found an old PH thread on cheap old cars in the £30 tax bracket, so how many of these will run on veg oil then?

This one seems like absolute overkill for a fiesta lol. Must go quite well with a tune

Wasn't there some nasty issues with the TDDI, engines were prone to failure?

If the 1.7 SDI engine can be ran on it, what about the 1.9 SDI in a mk4 Golf, or the 2.0 SDI in a mk5?

The 1.9 SDI can as it's just a larger version of the 1.7, the 2.0 SDI is a PD engine tho so Veg will kill it.

Plus did anyone ever actually buy a pile like that?

Looks like the alternator pulley has decided it wants to make a noise now so I bit the bullet and bought a new one :(... £100 which is £60 more than what the car is worth haha.

It's running like a dream (albeit slow one) on veg oil in this nice weather we are having. Pours in so nicely as the visc is obviously a lot lower. Winter it gloops its way in.

Will fix it next weekend I guess.

One of these has come up for sale near me and looks very tidy, it’s the 1.7 e sdi, how can I check if it could run on veg oil?

You've already answered that question matey :) 1.7 can run on it. How cheap is it? I could do with another to weld to this one for additional power. 110bhp would be the dream for anyone on Cs.

You need a Costco card mate, get 20L drums of the stuff instead of the little 2.5L bottles.
Stacks easier in the garage/shed as well.

I go there often for it but this deal worked out to be better. These are 5 litre bottles so it's not as embarrassing for my bin.

Worked out the above has saved £68.75 on fuel in total as each 5 litre bottles saves £3.25 as it's 70p a litre whereas diesel around here is £1.35 per litre.

That, coupled with how little the car uses makes for such a cheap running car. Definitely helps when you're saving for a house...

That tax would pay for itself, what with the veg oil fueling and all.

Or, yeah, find a 2001 or newer and collect that sweet, sweet £30 ticket

So thought I'd crack on with some shitty jobs. One being the worst thing ever... Cleaning the car.

I got a new George 3 in 1 hoover wet vac thing so thought I would give it a go.

It was pretty f**king horrific before! That's probably about a year and half's worth of dirt.

Given the heap of s**t some loving with the brush and hammerite today. Quick polish too wow you just can't find premium stuff like this these days.

I will be offering an alloy wheel refurb service during these difficult times if anyone wants booking in

Also sprayed the bit behind the wing where it was red before. Colour match is absolutely spot on you can't even tell I've sprayed it too.

Very happy

They don't actually mate. Feel free to offer chocolate
You need to sort out that monster truck arch gap, it's upsetting me.
If that's the only thing that's upsetting you about the car you have something wrong with you!
