As you may have seen 3-UK have not removed the IMPS (instant message presence service) client on the K800i, it's called My Friends inside the Messages menu, this IMPS client uses an open standard supported by Sony Ericsson, Nokia and Motorola - but operators tend to remove it from the menus.
All you need is a free proxy IMPS server to connect to MSN and there just happens to be one, Smart VAS. Below is how to set up MSN access on the K800i and it can probably be adapted for other 3 phones that may have the IMPS client still available. If not Smart VAS offer a Java client for download.
This is all FREE! Apart from data charges on 3-UK.
