K4J engine

Will a K4J engine of any year fit into my 2000 1.4 16v?
It currently has a K4J engine in it, and Wikipedia says that K4J engines have been produced from 1998 to present, so does that mean a later K4J will fit?

My current engine is screwed. Oils rings have gone, and it runs like a pig. It needs a new engine really as I can't afford to scrap the car. But K4J engine's of 2000 seem to be fairly rare

hmm how much would you get for scrapping it? just thinking that you can pick them up fairly cheap now, would it not work out cheaper, take the money and pay the difference for another car rather than for a new engine and fitting etc? sorry if this is no help
