just a quick question before i intend to buy

So after 4 years of being out of a ph1 172 I have decided its time to get back in the saddle and im looking at this....

Should I be concerned about the erratic idle with the blowing exhaust or could it be something else causing the idle issues...

The steering wheel has the melting issues so is there someone on here that retrims them...

And finally what is the road tax band on these..

Hoping this is a good one as I really like the look of it and going to see it on wednesday

The idle has nowt to do with the exhaust. Very little anyway.

I'd be more concerned with when the belt was done time wise and what the condition of it was like.

Snappy (on here) retrims wheels to a standard that Renault could only dream of.

Cheers Daniel...I know with the ph172 they have the fly by wire throttle cable, do the 182's have the same???..
What else is it likely to be??

I think you're confused mate.

ph1 have a conventional throttle cable, ph2 172/182's have fly by wire.

Could be anything really. I wouldn't be too concerned with it as most things like that are relatively cheap fixes on these. You got anyone who knows cars that you could take with you for a second opinion?

D'oh that goes to show the last time I looked under the bonnet of a clio....Yes I have a very good friend who owns a Renault specialists who will come with me..

Erratic idle will most likely be something simple like an idle control valve or vac line, maybe a sensor of some sort, I'm not to clued up on the clios yet but it wouldn't put me off buying one. It'll be a decent bargaining point to use.
