Jammed Gearstick

Was driving home there tonight from work and went round the roundabout and as i came off the roundabout the gearstick jammed and i could only select 5th or neutral. Pulled over and checked around the gearstick but nothing jaming. Had to give her the revs and drive home in 5th which is scary when taking tight bends etc lol. Anyone know what this could be? Was possibly thinking gear selector or syncro. Any help greatly appreciated cheers. The car is a 2002 clio 1.2 16v. Cheers, matt

do you get a noise when trying to put it in other gears or just it doesnt move? if the doesnt move answer, then its the selector.

No no noise just wont move. One my mates thinks its possibly the selector has fallen down into the gearbox and wont allow it move now

Lift the car up on jack and stands, remove the undertray, and then look at the gear lever/linkage from under the car, see if you can see anything obvious.

haha tha sounds easy if u have jack stands lol. Plus i have nowhere to work at car at moment unfortunatley. Cheers anyway mate. You think it possibly the gearbox is knackered?
