Is this the one?

Viewing a 182 tomorrow fingers crossed I'll be driving it home tomorrow been looking for a while for a looked after one.

2004 FF
80k
Good history
Cambelt done with proof
Standard
Looks great condition.

Bit more mileage I wanted but the history makes up for it.

What should I be looking for any common issues, what do you think it's worth?

Thanks :)

how much are you paying? Mileage is nowt as long as it's been looked after. Make sure belts were done at a specialist otherwise yr timing will be out losing u power and mpg

Yeah must have been done by a specialist the belts, I'd maybe enquire where. Ensure its got an extensive service history. Check all the usuals and that the air con works. Also check all the automatic lights and wipers work etc if possible and check whether or not the car is as described I.e if it's supposed to be a full fat that it has all the full fat features.

Check that there's no oil or engine leaks and that the car drives well. Check that the car drives well and should pull well and take off at 5,500 ish rpm. Take it up the rev band to ensure it comes onto cam correctly and ensure to check the clutch isn't slipping etc. Get it on full lock too to make sure it's not catching or the pump isn't whining etc. Ideally get it up to 70 mph and check the wheels aren't wobbling and are balanced.

Also check the xenon washers if it isn't a cup that they work. They won't because most don't haha but it's worth negotiating the price on it. Also ensure that it doesn't have the standard parking dents again use that as a bargaining chip on price. Check the clutch bites firm and positive and make sure that the fog lights work as this can be a common fault actually although it's often just a lose connection on the relay ;)

Check the doors match colour wise and for any accident damage and ensure the car has been looked after. If he takes you for a spin and kicks the s**t out of it on a cold engine and doesn't look after the car walk away in my opinion. Cant think of anything else but yeah just take your time and ensure you're properly happy before committing.

Viewed the car and didn't buy.
Headlight washers didn't work.
Fault code reader read misfire.
Clutch seemed very very heavy.
Cambelt wasn't done at a specialist.

Few other bits too so seller wouldn't budge I wasn't prepared to pay what it was and chuck money at it.

Hey hoo back to the hunting :)

Just something from your comment, all clutches on 182s are heavy, just letting you know so that it doesnt put you off, they are meant to be heavy, but as you said, best to wait and find a good one :)

+1 above clutch is heavier compared to other small cars, also I wouldnt worry about headlight washes as they are a common item to go wrong and cheap to fix. How much was the car up for? If it was in good condition at the right price then you've probably missed out a good car.

Yeah tough call but harder and harder to find one that's absolutely mint. I don't mind buying a car and fixing things though, so that's what I tend to go for!
