From the details given i would say its worth it, BUT i would want to see pics of it, then if i thought it looked decent from the pics i would want to see it in person and drive the car to make sure its sound

That's what I paid nearly 2 years ago with the same spec I.e fsh and belts. Mine was also on a similar mileage. Used car prices have gone down somewhat over the last 12 months or so. I'd be wanting a better deal.

Sounds about right.

However its vital you find out who did the timing belt, when I bought my trophy it was just done by a so called 'specialist' however 5k miles later it blew up due to the timing being out, I'm sure you've picked up from your time on the forum how common it is for garages not to use the propper tools and then mess it up.

Also as they're getting on a bit now I would ask to see proof the sachs dampers have been refurbed, BG Motorsport is the most popular place for them to be done at, if they havent been done then that's a bill of £4-500 depending on the condition of the shocks, you should consider that when making an offer.

Other than that if its sound and the car pulls cleanly and eager to pull hard from 5k rpm onwards, go for it mate. Decent price for a relatively low mile car

You may be lucky and get alot more history so you can see if it has been well looked after. Otherwise get the Sachs info with regards to refurbing, other than that you are laughing. Seems to be a good price too.

What are you talking about? Please show me where you can get similar with the bits listed above for "just over a grand" The Trophy still commands a premium over a similar 182, always has and probably always will so that differential will still exist when you come to sell. For what it is with other checks made I think that is a good price.

Have a look in the for sale section, this site undervalues RS Clios massively until it comes to selling their own! There's a BG Clio on ebay/here. I appreciate the massive engine spec, but let me know when someone pays 10k for a 7 year old 182.

My other pet peeve is CS always forgets the £1000 to £2000 north/south divide. And yes, that IS a £1000 divide on top of a £1000 PH1.



To be fair (though it's not relavent to the thread) the "1 grand" bloke is saying, in his opinion, he doesn't think the trophy justifies a 5 to 6 fold price increase over a battered PH1. He doesn't appear to be saying you can buy an actual trophy for 1 grand. Either way, he's wrong.

Thing is, if you buy cheap you will most likely get one that needs work. Suspension/mounts/brakes/tyres/gearbox etc all adds up, usually worth letting the seller take the hit on the work.

I never said you can buy a trophy, typical CS typing before they even read what i said! I said you can buy a 172/182 for just over a grand ! The difference is so big just buy a 1*2 and do a few bits to it ! My 172 as done 60k has a few things done to it but I say mine is worth just over £1500, just being honest!

OK I will get the haters on me but this is my view, I dont see the big deal with the Trophy, people say its the best but in my view its not! Yes its nice and I like it but for the extra ££££ I dont see it. The LY 182 is the best in the range just because of that colour! This website is for comments and views and thats mine !

i dont think your seeing the point here. no one is putting a point across of which they prefer.

the fact is, the Trophy IS the best. not a personal opinion. the Trophy is limited, has recaro seats and had Sach suspension.

Quoted for truth! To convert a 182 to Trophy spec will not be cheap.

He's talking poo anyway, show me any 182 in half decent condition for "just over a grand" and I will snap the owners hand off. I am currently looking for one and it seems to be £2500 for high mileage/poor(ish) examples, up to £5500 for low mileage dealer stock.
