Go for one of the Alpine ipod head units....Halfords are doing them for £289 fitted with the adaptor.

Do you know what model this Alpine is and if its the interactive ipod link?

have you got the ipod mounted on the dash?

did you fit it yourself?

where did you get it from? (cheapest I have seen is £150)

have you got any photos you wouldnt mind sharing?

cheers! john

i have got an itrip and the sound quality is fine, just make sure the volume on the ipod is about half and turn the radio volume up to compensate.

...or you could just stich mp3s onot one huge CD....can get CDs close to 1gb now apparently, i can fit about 8/9 albums on a normal CD

cds nearer a gb?? ur having a laugh arent you? its an impossibilty to have a cd in the universal file format as deisgned by phillips that will store a gb of date purely isnt enough space as the type of lasers used for cd cannot focus down to such a small spot!

I have never heard of a 1GB CD either, would be interesting to know how this is possible. Minidiscs are available with 1GB. Also You can fit about 8 albums on a CD in mp3 format, but they still take up the same space, about 700MB.

i have to got the cable for my pioneer head unit to connect to the ipod but i dont actually have an ipod but it may come in handy

Easiest way of connecting an ipod to car stereo with perfect quality, is to buy an aftermarket headunit which has an input for a CD changer. Then buy cable which plugs straight from back of headunits CD Changer input socket into headphone socket on ipod. simple!

or if your headunit has an AUX in get a 3.5mm jack to phono cable and youve done it for about a fiver.

Itrips, due to the fact that they transmit an FM frequency are classed as a pirate radio station and therefore illegal.....

http://www.CEL-DIRECT.COMWWW.CEL-DIRECT.COM - they show the Alpine range and do deals which come with the IPOD ready adaptor... they work with both mini and normal Ipods. .... http://www.cel-direct.com/shop1.asp?s_page=mp31.asphttp://www.cel-direct.com/shop1.asp?s_page=mp31.asp is one example.

but http://www.cel-direct.com/shop1.asp?s_page=mp31.asphttp://www.cel-direct.com/shop1.asp?s_page=mp31.asp is more like it

Ive just bought an aux-in cable that connects where the cd changer would be. £10.50 off e-bay. if it works itll be quality. have to see when it turns up. only getting this coz my itrip is absolutly cack. i dont know if you guys who have them working sweet live somewhere where theres no other interference on the airwave but round my end theres hardly a single free stations to use. besides they batter your battery life.

I have an iTrip and dont really think the quality is really that great, especially working in and around london.

Only had my clio 2 weeks so i brought an Alpine HU for which they now do an iPod adapter, the KCA-420i. Its been delivered today and am yet to install it, but will let you know how good it is once i have.

Alpine say its clear and looses no quality.

I also found that there are quite a few different makes available now.
