Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

Ok as I said before, I was on the old o2 contract, giving me unlimited mins/texts and unlimited data. I had 2 of these for £63 each per month.

I couldnt upgrade without losing my unlimited data. O2 are only offering 1GB and I need at LEAST 2GB's per month.

I called o2 this morning and asked what the deal was with the iPhone 5. They are only offering 1GB of data.

I then asked how much it is to upgrade (price of phone etc) - they currently have NO PRICES! What a shambles!

So then I said - "you're not doing yourselves any favours! You're offering the least data, no 4G for the foreseeable future as EE owns the whole spectrum in the UK for 4G, and you have no prices!"

She agreed with me!!!!!!!!!

So then I called T-Mobile and ordered 2 32GB iPhone 5's on their Full Monty plan for £41 per month each which has unlimited everything + 4G as soon as it launches!

Bye bye o2, its been good, but you've killed yourselves.

Do you get Visual Voicemail on T-mobile?

and does anyone have any experience with them?

Good point, only O2 have that I think.

Don't use it often, but much prefer it.

My mate is on 3 and it's f*cking garbage and I personally wouldn't bother with T-Mobile.

Saying that, it's only a service provider so you pays your moneys.

He's paying £150 for the iPhone as opposed to £600.
but its a 24 month contract, so i guess over 2 years he's £65 better off, but sod going for a 2 year contract!

I've normally done handset only, but going to get a 2 year contract this time.

After 12 months, I'll just sell the handset and pay cash to upgrade it. (Would cost circa £300)

I've been with Three for over a year now and think they are great.

Yeah, like I say, all subjective. It probably depends on location too. My mate had so many problems - I'd be on 4 bars of reception, he'd be on none etc.

Three's 3G is superoir to O2 IMO, couple of mates are on Three and their 3G is epic (when they get coverage ;))

Surely you could also use that logic to buy the phone outright and sell it in 12 months and get circa £500 back in your pocket?

Theres literally nothing in it if you go by O2's £20 simplicity deal and handset only vs 24 month contracts.

That's why I'm going contract this time rather than handset only. Contract works out at about £4 more expensive over the two years.

I was disappointed, when I found out only O2 offered this after changing provider. I now use an app called Libon Voicefeed which is free and you can customise your message with variables such as the callers name and stuff. Its dreamy

Orange - £220 phone and £36 per month x 24 = £1084
Handset - £600 + O2s sim only £20 per month x 24 = £1080.

Both would cost about £300 to upgrade in a years time.

Ordered for me and the Mrs through Vodafone.

Wanted 32 gb this time but couldn't really afford it. Went for the 16. My current 4s has 4gb free anyway. She's pretty much maxed out but full of crap.

900 mins - Unlimited texts - 1mb data for £229 up front and £46 a month for 12 months. Total = £781

Compared to:

Phone from Apple. £529 up front and a simplicity deal with the asme minuted at £20 a month for 12 months totals = £769.

The gap has got closer and closer. Its suddenly not silly to get a phone on contract. Well a 12 month contract anyway.

Guessing that you require the £20/mo SIM deal?

Best deal for you in that case. But for plenty of people the usage you get from a £10/mo SIM is sufficient and that's loads cheaper.

carphone warehouse only have black 16gb available for pre-order. ive ordered mine, and have upto 14 days to change the product if i wish, which means if between now and then they get stock of 32gb they can swap it for a cost and send out on release day. or i wait till its comes then have 14 days to do the swap. just gotta make my mind up whether i want 32gb or not.

Three is great in my area, luckily! Best value deals out there at the moment.

Misses is going for the contract paying £89 for the phone and 36pm, and I'm going for the 1 month rolling deal at 12.90pm with sim free phone. Both 32gb, one white, one black, unlimited data. Job done.

Yeah, you could also get a cheaper contract if you went with three which would narrow the difference even more.

I just don't think I want to be with three tbh.

I'm giving O2 until lunch time, if not I think I'll move to Tmobile.

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

O2 simplicity sucks at £20pm with only 1GB data. Needed to be 2GB and may have been tempted.

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

Three have a 12 month SIM only deal that's £7/month and would adequately cover my needs. Just not convinced by them being that good compared to say O2.

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

Yeah, £10pm simplicity with o2 is enough for me. Unlimited texts does the job, and I can simply top up £15 or £20 a month if needbe, as £10 is purely the minimum amount to activate the free texts/calls/web.

Think I'm just going to go with T mobile and join the EE ranks in prep for 4G.

£220 phone + £36 per month gives you 2000 minutes and unlimited messages and data.

That's true for you, as you've already stated you require that data allowance. I've just gone to mobile usage on my phone and it's at 1.9GB, but unsure when that's from as it's never been reset.

Mine hasn't a single mark, so took the risk of Oranges £300 offer valid for 14 days starting from Tuesday just gone. Worst case, they take 10% at most (Hopefully) and it goes down to £270.

I have always used Mazuma as they dont really care about cosmetic marks, just as long as it works.

Should have the date it was last reset, or does the 3GS not show this?

Was going to stay with giffgaff, but they have no nano sims and it could be months before they do! Feel a bit sorry for them as its bound to lose them some customers. Plus they are putting prices up. Still cheap, but no good without a sim!

Same here, was tempted by the potential extra £30, and them saying that very minor damage would only be 10% anyway, which knocks it back to £270.

Mazuma are a very easy company to deal with!

My Mazuma price is valid until the 26th.. plenty of time to get the 5 and ship off the 4S :)

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

Funny thing is, of you are selling your 4 or 4s privately, you are probably better waiting. Once the masses have sold theirs I reckon you are probably more likely to get more money for it as the demand will go back up again and your not competing with the hundreds already for sale.

Anyone considered buying outright on a simplicity deal with voda/o2 then get a proper sim contract for it when you know more about who's getting 4g etc?
i really don't rate tmobile or orange, to me they have always seemed like 3rd best. But they are offering the best packages so I'm stuck with what to do

Yeah Envirofone have gone down. My 32GB 4 was £175 and now it's £150.

Doesn't matter really though as I won't be getting rid of the 4 for awhile yet tbh.
